Have you struggled to find answers for your lower back pain?

Have you struggled to find answers for your lower back pain?

You may have tried other doctors who have performed expensive tests, X-rays, and MRIs. What happens when those special tests come back negative? Looking through a magnifying glass can often miss the bigger picture.

My name is Dr. Duane Olson. I take a global approach when treating my patients. I take a step back and look at the entire body as a network of moving parts. If one of the parts fails, it causes chaos throughout the entire system. My global assessment starts before the patient even walks in through the door. I take into consideration characteristics including early or late to appointments, sloppy or small handwriting, abnormal gates, posture, tremors and movements, bad hygiene, social behavior, and difficulty understanding questions or instructions. These are important, often missed findings, that can give us clues to solving the bigger picture of the problem.

After looking at you globally, we take a look at a detailed functional assessment of the lower back, and this might include things like coordination and strength, flexibility, symmetry, say, if you're a right-handed pitcher compared to a left-handed.

I then perform a structural assessment. This includes symmetry from the left to the right, such as a short leg or scoliosis, a leaning posture, positional pain when you're leaning, muscle spasms, and trigger points.

Finally, I like to check the neurological function, which is the brain to the body and the body to brain connection. This includes balance and stability, coordination, ability to repeat movements, following instructions, speed, and accuracy. So if you've struggled with finding the root cause to your lower back pain and you feel like you've done all the tests and they're all negative, then you may be looking at your problem through a magnifying glass.
